Laser season in Austin

Why we plan resurfacing between October and April, and what to do if you want to start in July anyway.

Results vary. Treatments are performed after an in-person consultation.

Sun and lasers don’t mix

Freshly treated skin is sensitive to the sun for weeks. A tan also makes some lasers less safe, because the energy is drawn to pigment. That’s why most of our resurfacing series start in the fall and finish before spring.

Planning a series

Three sessions about four weeks apart take roughly three months. Starting in October lets you finish by January; starting in January, you still finish before April, when the sun comes back. We put the dates on your sun calendar at the consult.

If it’s already summer

We can still work on the skin with lighter options, like a gentle peel, and save the laser for later. Whatever you choose, mineral sunscreen every morning and a hat for Barton Springs are part of the plan.
